Why?
In 2023, Dunoon Football Club carried out a community survey to understand how satisfied people were with the current sports pitch.1654 people took part in the survey.
The key survey findings were:
- 95% of survey participants were dissatisfied with the current pitch.
- 64% of survey participants said that the current pitch was a barrier to people taking part in sport locally
- 82% of survey participants said that the current pitch did not have suitable drainage to cope with rain
- 21 people commented to say that they have been injured due to the surface of the pitch
What do we want to do?
Dunoon football club would like to build a new multipurpose astroturf pitch for football, tennis and hockey. This will require recruiting a development officer to oversee the design, planning and construction of the new pitch. It will also require carrying out landscaping aroud the existing pitch site to remove overhanging treees and upgrading the existing earthworks and draining systems under the pitch. 15,400m2 of new astroturf 'carpet' will also be required to be laid and new ancillary equiptment installed (8 16ft x 7ft portable football goals, 2 23ft x 8ft portable footbal goals, 4 12ft x 7ft portable hockey goals, 4 portable tennis nets 42ftx 42in). 500m of new fencing, 2 team shelters and 8 floodlights will also be required to be installed.
